Wreck On Highway 109 Kills Local Man
Colorado State Patrol is investigating a one-car accident on Colorado 109,
which occurred Sunday, July 10 at approximately 11:30 p.m. William Wills of
Walsh was driving a 1989 Chevrolet S10 pickup south on 109 when he ran off the
east edge of the road and collided with a delineator post. He over-corrected to
the west and traveled across the lanes of traffic running off the west edge of
the road. The vehicle then continued off the west side of the road and collided
with a fence, where it rolled one and one-half times coming to rest on its top
facing east.Springfield resident, Jody Roper, 35, was the front seat passenger
and was ejected from the vehicle and died on scene from his injuries. The
vehicle was not equipped with air bags and seatbelts were not in use at the
time of the accident. Alcohol and drugs are not suspected in this accident. The
Colorado State Patrol Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating.
