The Moon Man 8th Annual Rod Run Show was held this year in conjunction with Chubby's motorcycle Rally at the Baca County Fair Grounds. An airband contest was held later with winners Dahlon Billings, Sean Caricato and Vince Caricato receiving $300. for first place. The boys portrayed a group they called "The soggy Bottom Boys." Second place was the Springfield Highschool Cheerleaders. The contest was sponsored by Dennis Jordan, Ron Hill, Ray Rogers, Terry Mullins, Don Jett, Ernie Felsien and Jim Jordan. Chubbies Motorcycle Rally Winners
Rider Michael Meyer was the winner of the slow race and showed himself to be as cool as a cucumber to the very end, coming in last in all the trials while other riders wobbled and were disqualified for touching the ground. Bob and Brigitte Schaller won the tennis Ball event, the Hot dog bite contest, and the balloon toss and became the over-all winners. Bob also came in second in the slow race. Chris Westphal won the Honey I'm home contest and Phil Hinds came in second. Michael Meyer and Kathleen of Clayton NM won another slow event involving a clothesline. Wow, that's one very steady cycle Michael! The Strong Man contest was won by Darrel Mackey.
