Edna May Minnick 1916-2009
Edna May Minnick, 92, passed away April 14, 2009 in Springfield, Colorado. She was born August 31, 1916 in Springfield to Joseph F. and Jewel E. Scannell, who preceded her in death.
Edna graduated from Springfield High School and moved to Colorado Springs, graduating from the Blair Business College with a degree. She married Wayne S. Minnick in 1939. They were married 54 years until he passed away December 28, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Alma J. Scallell; brother, Lawrence J. Scallell and great nephew Marty W. Booker. She is survived by her nieces, Donna Kobold of Colorado Springs; Barbara (Elmer) Moya of Penrose and Maureen (Alan) Larson of Salt Lake City, Utah; cousin Micaela Dunkelberger of Springfield as well as many grand and great grand nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends
Edna had a full and productive life. She worked as Budget Control for the Air Force/Western Quadrant of USA for 30 years. Wayne and Edna were also wheat farmers with the help of their great nieces and nephews and loved it. A scholarship fund at R.C.H.S. in Kansas was set up in their names. Edna was passionate abut programs for the youth and was a precinct representative for the Republican Party.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 18, 2009, 9 a.m. at Swan Law Cascade Chapel, 501 N. Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado. A private burial will take place at Memorials Gardens Cemetery, Colorado Springs. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your favorite charity.
