Lodging in Springfield

Springfield has food and lodging for visitors which includes three Motels and an old fashion Hotel called the Stage Stop which is located on Main Street between 10th and 11th. (Main Street in Springfield is Highway 287, recently widened and built with concrete.)

Don't expect anything real fancy here in Springfield. Our accommodations are humble. We are country folks and we get by with what we have and "we make do the best we can." During the local Baca County Fair there are often class reunions and these lodgings fill up very fast, but most of the time you won't need a reservation. So come on down and stay for a spell.

Be sure to visit the Treasure Chest Mall on Main Street while you are here, as there are many interesting collectibles, art, furniture and gifts. Just about everything in town is within walking distance of where you will be staying. That's because everything is within walking distance of everything. That is, if you can walk. The airport may be a bit of a stretch though, especially if you are toting bags. It is about five miles north of town.

We enjoy the simple life. This is a place where you will soon notice people calling you by your first name. It may freak you out if you are used to the big city where no one knows you from the man in the moon. (By the way the man in the moon lives here. We call him "The Moon Man." He organizes the annual Car Show. )

You may see some cowboys here in Springfield and they might be bunking at the historical Stage Stop Hotel, putting on a show at the Equinox Festival, or reading poetry at the Bar 4 Corral. Not all of our cowboys dress like the ones in this picture, some of them just look like the rest of us, and some of them don't even use a horse. Poor fella's must have to chase their cows on foot I guess.
