Texas Woman Dies in Fatal Car Accident

According to the Colorado State Patrol Department, on Saturday, April 30th around 4:00 a.m. 22 year old Jeanette Bickford of McGregor, TX was traveling northbound on Colorado 287 near milepost 54 in a 1993 Jeep at a high rate of speed. For unknown reasons, the Jeep went off the west edge of Colorado 287. Miss Bickford steered to the right and the Jeep began to rotate clockwise. The Jeep went airborne and rolled two and three-quarter times. Miss Bickford was not utilizing her safety belt and was ejected during the rolIs. The Jeep came to rest on its driver's side off the west side of Colorado 287. Miss Bickford was transported to the Prowers county Medical Center and was pronounced dead at 5:35 a.m. by Dr. Abbott.
Colorado 287 is a posted 65 miles per hour zone. Calculated speed of the Jeep was 95 miles per hour.
