Collision Kills Two
Eight Miles South of Springfield
Two people, Ute Jung, age 37 and Alexandra Jung, age 8, from Livermore
Colorado, were killed in a collision with a semi eight miles south of
Springfield on 287, Wednesday, March 30th, at about 3:04 P.M. The semi,
pulling double trailers, was driven by Robin Mortensen from Morrison Colorado,
age 41 who escaped with minor injuries.
Ute and Alexandra Jung were pronounced dead at the scene and taken to Rich
Funeral Home in Springfield. According to a police blotter, they were headed
southbound on Hwy 287 in a Dodge Pick-up when they crossed the center lane and
collided with the truck. They were wearing seatbelts and airbags were
deployed. The semi continued in a northerly direction and ran off the right
side of the road coming to rest facing north. No alcohol was involved.
Investigating officers were, Dolan, Delange and Lathrop. The accident is still
under investigation.
